Conversations that feel like storms

My strongest impressions about the seven-year collaboration with Peter Carp are the first meetings which were always very stormy. Those initial meetings were about my concept regarding the future theatrical performance. Each time, Peter could and would not hide his surprise upon hearing my ideas. Our conversations would quickly intensify and became wild, and this led to our mutual excitement about the project. Although our views of how a performance should be done differed diametrically, he had the courage and trust in me to let me work my way, which makes him a great Intendant in my eyes, and a person one could only wish to work with. Mr Carp’s greatest talent is to recognise somebody’s passion and give them full support. And I must admit that this can only be done if one loves people he works with and believes them.
