It all began in Tel Aviv, where Peter Carp, the Artistic Director of Theater Freiburg, arrived as part of a cultural delegation. Tel Aviv and Freiburg are twin cities, and a mutual colleague, recognising our shared dedication to theatre, suggested that we meet. True to his curious nature, Peter reached out. We met at a local bar, where a conversation that started casually evolved into a deep and inspiring exchange about theatre, culture, and vision. By the end of our talk, Peter extended an invitation for me to come to Freiburg, see his productions, and meet the ensemble. I booked a flight, and a few months later, we found ourselves reconnecting, this time on his home turf.
Our collaboration began with “The Winter’s Tale”. When I suggested this play, I knew it was rarely staged and didn’t expect immediate enthusiasm, but Peter embraced the idea. I was confident in my concept, and he backed me entirely, offering the big stage and his trust. The production was a resounding success, and his faith in my vision made a powerful impression.
