El Solar is a detective agency for objects, a mobile investigation office that undertakes site-specific ethnographic research. We attempt to make visible the memories and living conditions that have collected in the objects of residents in a certain part of the city. Proceeding from that we ponder the present and the transformation of the district and the city as well as changes and transitional phases of a certain culture of materiality. That’s why we refer to our productions as documentary object theatre. At its heart is the life cycle and the real stories of things.

Our agency combines Jomi Oligor’s mechanics and light with high-precision object animation by Xavier Bobés and my writing work as well as my work with stage miniatures. For us our poetic approach wouldn’t be complete without the textual charge that the objects have gained through reality. The potentiality that arises from these real inscriptions determines our artistic approach and all of our aesthetic decisions on how to present the research information we have gathered in our detective work.
